ALEN was established in 2003 to provide a Nationwide Network of certified Escort Operators specifically for the safe movement of Abnormal Loads.

The creation of this organisation follows the decision by Police to withdraw from the provision of free escorts for abnormal load hauliers. 

The Abnormal Load Escort Network is providing a reliable alternative for the abnormal load haulage industry nationwide, and is formed from those currently well established in this specialist sector. 

The aim of ALEN is to ensure that a high standard of operational skill in is achieved together with maintaining agreed vehicle standards.   

Safety is the prime concern of the Network as the responsibility involved cannot be underestimated. 

The Heavy Transport Association have been involved with the development of this body and its aims are also supported by the Road Haulage Association and the Freight Transport Association. Membership of one of these bodies is required for ALEN Membership to be considered.
